Meet the Aquatic Mammal Research Group of Ilhéus
Founded in 2006, the Ilhéus Aquatic Mammal Research Group (GPMAI) is dedicated to the scientific investigation of cetacean species that inhabit the coastal waters of Bahia. Our mission is to promote knowledge about these fascinating mammals, contributing to their conservation and sustainable management.
We believe that science should be shared. That is why scientific dissemination is one of our pillars, bringing accessible information to local communities, society in general and decision-makers.
Our team is made up of experienced researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as interns and volunteers. Together, we work on innovative projects that combine science and education.
